Keota, originally a homestead established in 1880 by two sisters, it became a station stop in 1888 on the "Old Prairie Dog Express". There were four different newspapers at four different times from 1908-1975 and the post office operated briefly in 1890, was reopened in 1909, and closed in 1974.A few buildings survive, as does this wall on the outskirts of town.
